The industrial effluent is detoxicated and neutralized in a batch plant. The arrearages in the form of sludge particles (e.g. heavy metal hydroxide fines) will drain in a filter press.

In batch plants, the waste water is handled step-by-step in several chemical process steps switched in sequence considering necessary reaction times.

After decontamination, the hydroxide precipitation can be used or while presence of complex compounds the sulphide precipitation.
