Application

Application KOMPaion- MER -plants are intended for reclaiming metals from pre-treatment and pre-rinsing processes in individual streams. It also can be employed for the conversion of chlorides in the presence of concentrated metal sulfates.

Kinds of applications:

  • Rinse water from still rinses
  • Rinse water from pre rinses
  • Concentrate has to be treated together with rinse water (thinned)

Rinse water with peroxide has to be pre-treated.

Process Characteristics

Separate collection of the partial flow with the metal witch has to be recovered. The collected rinse water is pumped through a two-stage Ion exchanger. The resin of the Ion exchanger will be loaded nearly complete. After the loading the regeneration is started.

Thought to the multi level regeneration a high concentrated metal salt solution can be generated. Therefore, the regeneration acid is used more than one time.

Description of plant

The plants of the KOMPaion-MER-Line include the following assembly groups:

  • Raw water collecting tank
  • Feed pumps (dual pumping station)
  • Pre filtration (sand or cartridge filter)
  • Ion exchange stage, 2 columns with cation exchange resin Regeneration stage
  • (Electrolysis)

At the ion exchange plants of the KOMPaion-VEA-Line the advantages of the series train configuration are used. When the primary exchanger is nearly depleted, it is operated until the resin is completely exhausted. During that time the regenerated second column captures any ion leakage from the first.

The operation of the plant is divided in following main steps:

  • Loading: removal of ions from rinse water
  • Regeneration: activation of the active exchange groups with acid

    decoppered with electrolysis. Then the regeneration acid can be
    reused fort he regeneration of the ion
