Efficiency Check of Ion Exchange Resins
The resins in ion exchange plants are critical for the quality of the treated water. Often, the condition of the resins in use is only checked when negative effects are noticed.
They can be:
- The formation of spots after drying or poor adhesion of the plated deposits, due to poor water quality in recalculation systems.
- Problems with the make-up of process solutions because of insufficient quality of the water produced from DI-plants
- Insufficient output capacity of the ion exchange system because of resin bed contamination
- Inability of the treated effluent to meet regulatory compliance limits
The resins in ion exchange systems often represent a substantial investment. In addition, the cost for the proper disposal of spent resins is also a significant factor. Hence, it makes sense to take appropriate measures for getting the maximum service life and maintaining its value. With proper maintenance, ion exchange resins can perform satisfactorily over several years.
